Case Study in HIPAA Compliant Claims Data Collection
Problem
A company had hundreds of patients at many centers and needed collection, entry, and analysis of inpatient claims data that would be performed per HIPAA compliance standards. At the time, the company could not ensure proper data handling protocols were in effect. The client also needed comparable data and reports generated from the data obtained.
Solution
BMS proposed to modify the client’s clinical data handling protocols to request the claims forms from the hospital’s administration and de-identify them for our analysis.
Outcome
BMS performed all data processing steps from collection to analysis and then generated a report tailored to the Center for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) needs.
